Six Months In:

Building a Business Rooted in Gratitude, Growth, and Community

Six months ago, I took a leap and relaunched my consulting business. At the time, I hoped it would work. I believed in the skills and experience I brought to the table, but like any new beginning, there was still uncertainty.

Today, as I look back on the past six months, what I feel most is gratitude.

I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside incredible nonprofits and small businesses, helping streamline their electronic communications and strengthen their marketing efforts. From creating campaigns that support fundraising efforts to developing materials that promote events and build brand awareness, I’ve seen firsthand how strong communications can help organizations grow and thrive.

I’ve worked with small business owners and nonprofit organizations to refresh their websites so they better reflect who they are and the impact they make in their communities. Through social media strategy and content creation, I’ve helped them show up consistently, sharing their expertise and building authentic connections — not chasing viral moments, but focusing on steady, meaningful visibility.

Another privilege has been working with leaders who are exceptional at what they do but need support translating their vision and passion into clear messaging. Helping organizations articulate their story and mission in ways that resonate has been deeply fulfilling.

I’ve also had the honor of speaking with several groups and leading workshops focused on social media and content creation. My message is simple: success doesn’t come from going viral; it comes from showing up consistently and demonstrating the value you bring to your community.

Behind the scenes, so much of this growth has come through relationships. I am incredibly grateful to friends, colleagues, and fellow business owners who have trusted me, shared referrals, and sent new opportunities my way. Each new client and project is a reminder of how powerful community support can be.

What makes this season even more meaningful is how balanced the growth has been. The work has grown steadily and manageably, allowing me to build something sustainable while maintaining ownership over my time, energy, and schedule. I’m proud — and honestly still a bit surprised — to have already surpassed what I was earning in my previous role, while creating a professional life that feels aligned and fulfilling.

A year ago, I was in a very different place. I felt stuck, burnt out, and unsure of what came next. Today, I feel energized, supported, and surrounded by people who inspire me daily. The work I get to do and the clients I get to support bring light and purpose back into my professional life.

And this still feels like just the beginning.

I’m excited to continue growing, partnering with new organizations, and helping more businesses and nonprofits shine. Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey so far — your encouragement and trust mean more than you know.

Here’s to the next six months and everything still to come.
