a heart full of gratitude

Reflections Before Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving approaches, I’ve found myself slowing down just enough to take in the season behind me. Not in a dramatic way, but in the steady, grounding way that comes when you realize how many small moments, small decisions and small acts of courage added up to something much bigger than you ever expected. This time of year always reminds me to pause (really pause) and notice the good that’s been woven into every day.

I’m grateful for the work that has flowed into my life in such meaningful ways. These past few months since re-launching my consulting business has brought an incredible variety of projects, each one stretching me, energizing me and reminding me why I do what I do. I had the joy of helping new businesses build their foundations, bringing their ideas to life through thoughtful marketing and storytelling. I worked with professionals who spend their days caring for others, leading teams, or managing complex responsibilities. The type of leaders who rarely have the time to think about their own branding or communication strategy. Being able to step in, lighten that load and create something that truly reflects who they are has been one of the most fulfilling parts of this year.

I’m also grateful for the behind-the-scenes work that often goes unnoticed but matters so deeply. Newsletters that finally made it into inboxes after months of good intentions. Websites that went from “someday” to “published.” Content that gave voice to businesses and nonprofits too busy doing meaningful work to sit down and write about it. Every one of these projects felt like a small but important contribution. A way of supporting people who are building community, serving others, or simply trying to grow something of their own.

Alongside the work came something equally precious: the relationships. I’m grateful for the trust people place in me when they hand over the things that represent their passion and livelihood. That trust never feels small. It’s an honor to be let into someone’s vision and then help shape it with care and intention. The connections formed along the way, the conversations, the brainstorming sessions, the shared excitement when something finally clicks, those are the moments that stay with me.

Of course, none of this happens in a vacuum. I’m deeply grateful for the family and friends who encourage me, steady me, remind me to rest and celebrate both the milestones and the quiet wins. Their support has been a constant source of strength, especially on the days when the to-do list feels endless or the uncertainties of entrepreneurship feel a little heavy. It is a gift to be surrounded by people who believe in the journey even when it winds, twists, or takes an unexpected turn.

And I’m grateful for the path that brought me here from the joyful moments that kept me moving forward, and the bumps that forced me to grow, rethink, or start again. Every season, even the difficult ones, shaped the work I get to do now. They taught me resilience, patience and the importance of staying aligned with what matters most.

This year also opened up space for something I don’t take for granted: freedom. The freedom to create work that feels meaningful. The freedom to support nonprofits, small businesses and individuals who are making a difference in their own corners of the world. The freedom to build a life that reflects my values, while still spending time with the people I love. That freedom is not lost on me, and it is something I treasure every single day.

Most of all, as I head into Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for what’s on the horizon. There is so much to look forward to, so much to build and so many stories yet to tell. I feel hopeful, grounded and excited for the next chapter, especially knowing that community — this community — is walking alongside me.

As you move into the holiday, I invite you to take a moment to reflect on what has carried you this year. The big milestones, yes, but also the quiet victories, the support you’ve received, the lessons learned and the moments that helped you grow. Gratitude has a way of bringing everything into focus.

Thank you for being part of this journey. I’m always here to connect, share and grow together. Wishing you a warm, meaningful, and inspiring start to the holiday season.
